2011 Pinot noir
Bright, dark red, youthful wine with aroma of red berries, some spicy oak & hintsof herbs. Some noticeable acidity keeping the palate fresh. Medium body with soft to medium tannins, good balance. 2011 was a classically structured vintage for Pinot noir in the Waipara Valley with good yields of outstanding quality, matching previous years seasons. The fruit was hand harvested and whole-bunched pressed, and the wine was vat fermented before being transferred to oak barrels for final fermentation. The wine has had minimum intervention to retain the natural freshness of aromas and flavour. Aged in the barrel before release. Can cellar for up to 5-9 years.
2011 Pinot Gris
Our 2011 Pinot Gris is a bright honey gold. Medium style, some pear fruit, with an aroma of mineral earthy Terra, reflecting the valley floor clay soils. Medium body with soft to medium flavors, hints of dried apricot and honey after taste, good balance and complexity, slightly sweet aromatic. Cellar for 2-3 years.
2010 Pinot Noir
This Pinot noir has been carefully crafted by Theo Coles, master wine maker, for Crater Rim Winery in Omihi, North Canterbury. The King of Pinot Clones “ABLE” is the body of this Pinot noir with small quantities of 777 & 667 used for blending to achieve the desired vibrant berry aroma & flavours. This Pinot noir has not been subjected to cold stabilization so some tartrates may be present in the bottle. This wine is very smooth and easy drinking. The alcohol percent by volume is 13.2% and is also showing good legs. It has sold so well that we only have very limited stock available. This wine won a "GOLD" Medal in the International Wine Show in Auckland in 2012. LIMITED STOCK. Can cellar for up to 5-6 years.
2009 Pinot Gris
The 2009 Dallington Downs Pinot Gris is pale straw in colour with a light wafts of fruit. The wine has a nutty bouquet, which shows the richness of a Pinot Gris blend and the benefits of extended maturation. An elegant finely structured wine in which the fruit flavours harmonise with biscuity, yeast derived complexities and crisp acidity to give a lingering dry finish.
This Pinot Gris has been carefully crafted by Theo Coles, master wine maker for Crater Rim Winery in Omihi, North Canterbury. The four different clones grown in this block have been blended together to produce a unique, light, dry style with subtle amber, colours, and a smooth oily texture. The alcohol percent by volume is 12.5% and is showing good legs. The subtle suggestion of smoky haze goes perfectly with Thai and Asian style dishes, blue cheeses, sea food and lightly spiced chicken dishes.
